The National Lottery recorded a turnover of € 1.1 billion in 2010. This amount corresponds to the total receipts from all lottery games held in 2010.

 

Of this, € 642 million was paid out to winners. € 458 million is the gross operating profit, of which 77% was ploughed back into the community in various forms:

  • Every year € 225.3 million of the gross operating profit is returned to society in the form of subsidies. For 2010, this corresponded to 49% of the gross profit.

  • Each year the National Lottery also pays € 95 million to the State for the monopoly licence, which for 2010 amounts to 20% of the gross operating profit.

  • In 2010 the National Lottery paid € 38 million, or 8.2% of the gross operating profit, in taxes, non-deductible VAT and social security contributions.

  • Finally, in 2010 € 7.8 million was paid out in dividends to public shareholders only, which corresponds to 1.7% of the gross operating profit.

 

The National Lottery is able to count on the daily commitment of its 380 employees. But the National Lottery also works with over 5,000 points of sales for the distribution of its products.
